PURPOSE:To execute a mirror surface finishing work with high accuracy and high efficiency by grinding the cylindrical surface of a magnetic head with a grinding tape while low frequency oscillation, to which the high frequency oscillation of a line amplitude is overlapped, is given to the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A preliminary test is executed in advance concerning a given working sample 11 and for example, the number of oscillating, the amplitude of the high frequency oscillation and a grinding time, etc., are determined. Next, in a grinding device side, for example, the type of a grinding tape 4, the sending speed of the grinding tape and a working load to be loaded to a backup plate 7 are caused to be a prescribed value. Then, a power source is inputted and the work is started. When voltages to be added to piezoelectric elements 12 and 12' are obtained as Va and Vb respectively, Va=V0+V1sinomegat, and Vb=V0-V1sinomegat (here, V0 and V1 are constants) are obtained and Va+Vb=2V0 is established. Then, the elongation quantity of the piezoelectric elements 12 and 12' goes to be constant and a working jig 2 is moved up and down linke an arrow. Thus, the grinding work is caused to smoothly proceed. Then, a grinding device can execute the mirror surface finishing of a cylindrical surface 30a in a magnetic head 30 with the high accuracy and high efficiency and the mirror surface finishing can be executed for the magnetic head 30 with the high accuracy. |
