PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable ensuring an ID hole, even in reducing the size of a tape cassette. SOLUTION: In this tape cassette 10, in which two positioning holes 35l, 35r are formed on the rear surface of a cassette shell 20, one side of the two positioning holes turns circular and the other side is formed in an oblong hole shape. The positioning hole 35r, formed to an oblong hole shape, uses almost half of the oblong hole in the longitudinal direction as a positioning hole and uses the remaining almost half as the ID hole 36, which offers various kinds of information of the tape cassette, and a separable blocking piece 38 is disposed on an opening surface of the ID hole.
