Reaction products from (i) 2-10 moles, pref. 2-6 moles, of a fatty acid glycidyl ester with 11-23 C atoms in the alkyl residue, which are opt. unsatd. and/or branched, and (ii) 1 mole of a polyethyleneimine with an av. MW of 400-2500, esp. 600-1800, are new cpds. - The reaction products are used as textile softeners in detergent compsns., partic. as softeners for cellulosic materials such as cotton and linen. - They are antistatics for synthetic fibres such as polyamide, polyacrylonitrile and polyester fibres. - They can be used in compsns. contg. anionic detergents. - They do not affect the absorption properties of the textiles.
