PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for a vehicle having a fail safe function securing the traveling safety even when a failure occurs in an adaptive lighting system (AFS) wherein the irradiating direction of the lamp light is changed while following up a traveling condition of the vehicle. SOLUTION: This lighting system is provided with abnormality detecting means 203, 433 for detecting the abnormality in an AFS of the lighting system for the vehicle, and lamp vertical optical axis adjusting means 5, 6 receiving an abnormality detecting signal of the abnormality detecting means and determining a vertical optical axis angle of the lamp 30 on an angular position lower than a reference angle. When the malfunction of the lighting system for the vehicle occurs, an optical axis of the lamp in the deflected state is vertically downwardly, tilted, whereby an oncoming driver can be prevented from being dazzled even when the lamp is deflected to an oncoming car side, and the fail safe desirable for traffic safety can be realized. |
