PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the improper speed change stage by excluding at least one signal system of a variety of traveling parameters when the above-described signal system fails and determining the aimed speed change stage by the fuzzy estimation or speed change map by using the rest signal systems. CONSTITUTION:A fail detecting means judges if each inputted signal system fails or not, and if a fail is generated in any signal system, the aimed speed change stage K is set to a standard speed change stage N', and the fuzzy estimation is bypassed. Accordingly, the aimed speed change stage is determined on the basis of the standard speed change stage N' which is obtained from the car speed and a speed change map for the engine load. If, in this method, a fail is detected in one system among the signal systems, fuzzy estimation is suspended at all, and the aimed speed change stage is determined only by the speed change map, and the need of rewriting a membership function related to the fail is obviated, and the control flow is excluding simplified. |
