The spanner has a handle (20) with a fixed (23) and a movable jaw (252). The handle also has a longitudinal channel (21) in which moves a shank (25) provided with teeth (26) with which engages a screw (27) attached to the handle. The channel has at least one open side over which at least one plate (22) is attached. The handle has a recess (24) in which the screw is rotatable on a spindle (28). The longitudinal channel lies at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the handle.
