PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable rotary compressor by employing polyalkylene glycol as a lubricant or poly-alpha-olefin as a base oil for a compressor using carbon dioxide as a natural refrigerant to prevent rollers and vanes from an abnormal abrasion. SOLUTION: A rotary compressor using carbon dioxide as a refrigerant, polyalkylene glycol as a lubricant, or poly-α-olefin or a mineral oil as a base oil, employs vanes having curvature radiuses (Rv) (cm) expressed by the following formula (1): T<Rv<Rr at their portions slidingly contacting the rollers, wherein T represents the thickness (cm) of the vanes, and Rr represents the peripheral curvature radiuses (cm) of the rollers slidingly contacting the vanes.
