A clamping device having a ball retainer is provided to prevent the vibration by the rotation of a draw bar and to be used for a short spring. A clamping device having a ball retainer comprises: a draw bar(101) inserted inside a main axis of machining center(100); a collet(104) in which a ball groove(107) is formed; a draw bar protrusion(102) formed at an end of the draw bar; a spring support sill(108) formed at a principal axis; a spring(103) formed between the collet and the spring support sill; and a retainer(109) fixed to the principal axis. The draw bar protrusion reverses the collet when the draw bar reverses while being contacted with a stepped projection(105) of the collet. The collet goes forward by a spring. The ball retainer has a ball hole(110). A ball(111) moves up and down while being inserted into the ball hole.
