Parallel horizontal cross members are attached to the floor, to which are fitted at regular spacings support bars pointing alternately upwards to the right and left at identical angles from the vertical, the workpiece resting on the tip of the bars. The angle is between 10-60 degrees pref. 20-30 degres from the vertical. Suitable holdersa re employed for attaching the rods to the cross members. The support structure is pref. located in a pit. The system reduces damage to the support bars by dropping molten slag, metal etc.
