PURPOSE:To prevent waste of recording paper and to shorten operation time by providing a thinning device of picture information, and when recording picture information that exceeds the maximum recording line, thinning down the picture information and recording it. CONSTITUTION:A signal received from a circuit 8 is inputted to an NCU2, and transmitted picture data is demodulated by a demodulator 3 under control of a controlling section 1, and further decoded by a decorder 4. Decoded picture data is stored in a picture memory 5 successively from a reference point (address). A thinning device 6 is connected to the rear part of the picture memory 5 through signal lines 14, 15. In the case where picture information that exceeds the number of the maximum recording lines, etc., picture information is thinned down by the thinning device as required, and the thinned picture information is sent to a recording section such as a heat-sensitive printer, etc. through a signal line 16 and recorded.
