<p>PURPOSE:To improve the coding efficiency by utilizing effectively correlation between bands in a sub band coding system. CONSTITUTION:A digital video signal is divided into font 1st band data by a 1st band divider 1 and coded. Furthermore, the three 1st band data are locally decoded by 1st-3rd decoders 6, 7, 8 and data are thinned by 1st-3rd thinning circuits 9, 10, 11 and fed respectively to 1st-3rd difference devices 12, 13, 14. On the other hand, the remaining 1st band data are divided into four 2nd band data by a 2nd band divider 5 and the three data having correlation with the 1st band data are subtracted from the outputs of the 1st-3rd thinning circuits by the 1st-3rd difference devices, then a prediction error is obtained and it is coded.</p> |
