The invention concerns a metal part, in particular an iron or a steel part with a treated, in particular finished, surface, the surface of the part, which may or may not be pretreated in some way, being finished using an aqueous resin solution containing less than 20 % by wt. of resin and the thickness of the resin coat not exceeding 5 mu m at any point on the surface. A particularly high degree of protection against corrosion is ensured by virtue of the fact that the resin in the solution is a reactive cross linking low-molecular resin which cross links on the surface when heated at a temperature of more than 100 DEG C. As well as being environmentally particularly acceptable, the method proposed has the advantage of requiring only an extremely thin coat of resin on the metal surface and hence gives enormous cost and weight savings in the finished product. In addition, the method can be used with any metal surface and makes it possible to carry out a bath-in-bath treatment following degreasing and phosphatization of the metal part. |
