An optical viewing system for displaying to a viewer 19 composite views of part of the viewer and an image of an article, comprises a semireflective mirror 6, a projection screen 10 behind the mirror, and a projector 11 for projecting any of a set of slides representing the article on to the screen. A black cloth 22 covers the part of the viewer which is not to be viewed, and lamps 18 illumine the part to be viewed. Screen 10 pivots about hinges 8 and is adjustable on rails 2 to coincide with the virtual image of viewer 19 in mirror 6. Projector 11 is movable axially and vertically in response to remote control 15 which also controls slide-changing. In modification, a folded optical system is used to save space, the screen being viewed in an inclined mirror. Double-beam stereoscopic projection is possible. |
