PURPOSE:To shorten a time necessary for copying by providing a scanning control means for executing a recording start indication response mode which is common to both manual document placing and automatic document supply and a preceding document recording completion response mode only when an automatic document feeding device is used. CONSTITUTION:Scanning control means CPU 100P and 300P are provided, which execute the recording start indication response mode which is common to both manual document placing and automatic document supply for making a scanning means perform recording scanning from a recording scanning start position after detecting the low density peak of the document by a CPU 100P and the preceding document recording completion response mode peculiar to the case of using the automatic document feeder 27 where the scanning means is driven to a prescanning position at the time of returning after completing scanning for recording the last sheet of preceding document, detecting the low density peak of a new document while driving the scanning means to a recording scanning start position from the prescanning position and starting the recording scanning of the new document when the scanning means returns to a recording scanning start position at the time of the second and subsequent recording of the document. Thus, the copying time can be shortened. |
