PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the calibration of a surface electrometer so as to perform adequate image producing by deciding an image producing condition again in the case in which a calibrated value before the decision of the image producing condition is compared and the calibrated result is judged to be abnormal. SOLUTION: As to process control initial setting; the calibration of a potential sensor 20 is performed in the case in which a main switch is turned on, the image producing condition is adjusted to be inside an aimed range based on the calibrated value (electrostatic latent image potential control), so that the calibration of the sensor 20 is performed again. In such a case, a reference voltage is impressed on a photoreceptor 1 in the case in which the main switch is turned on so as to find the output performance of the sensor 20 and to decide the calibrated value. Thus, as to the initial setting in the case in which a power source is turned on, the proofreading of the sensor 20 is performed before and after the decision of the image producing condition, the proofreading values (the output value of the sensor 20 used for calculating the calibrated value) are compared, and when the calibrated result is judged to be abnormal, the initial setting, that is, the adjustment of the image producing condition is performed again. |
