Cereal grains at the milk-ripe stage are harvested, reduced to a paste or pulp, and at least part of the solids, and optionally chlorophyll, are separated therefrom e.g. by centrifuging, expressing, extracting and/or filtering, optionally with the addition of adjuvants, to leave a liquid milky product, referred to as "cereal milk", which has cosmetic uses. The cereal milk may be fermented with yeast to give an alcoholic product or reacted with lactic acid bacteria to give a lactic acid containing product. The cereal milk may be concentrated, dried, pasteurized, or preserved by addition of preservatives. The separated solid residues may be used as forage for cattle.
