Liquid hydrogen plunger pump

The plunger pump is for liquid hydrogen, the sealing plunger dividing the chamber into suction and delivery sections with valve-controlled inlet and outlet passages. A passage (18) through the plunger (14) connects the sections (24,26), and is shut by a plug (20) when the plunger moves towards the delivery section (26), and opened on movement in the other direction. The plunger can comprise a casing (15) bearing against the pump chamber wall and open to the suction section, while it is closed off from the delivery one by an end wall containing the passage.
