<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up a database search when an index does not exist or an existing index is unusable. SOLUTION: In this database search method, a search method in which the cost for making a search after the index corresponding to the search criteria has been produced and the cost for making a complete cases search are compared, if the cost of the complete cases search is larger, whether or not an applicable index, among the produced indices, exists is determined, and if the applicable index does not exist, an index corresponding to the search criteria is produced, the produced index is used for searching the database, and a recording medium for executing the search method are used.</p> |
