The portable device for trimming hedges, shrubs, and trees, cutting grass etc., has an integral clippings collector. The hedge trimming device has reciprocating blades, and a cylindrical rotating brush juxtaposed with the hedge trimmer. A ha baffle is disposed in relation to the hedge trimmer and brush so that severed portions of the vegetation are directed to an enclosure in which the severed portions are collected. The enclosure may be periodically emptied of accumulated vegetation by pivoting a panel portion of the enclosure about one edge. A wire mesh screen at the rear allows air to be discharged without building up pressure inside the enclosure.
