PURPOSE:To reduce fast forward(FF)/rewind(REW) time by modulating a reference cycle based on a rotary detection signal of a supply reel and a take-up reel which rotate according to transfer of a tape. CONSTITUTION:A cycle of a rotary detection signal whose cycle changes according to a rotary speed of a capstan 3 to be controlled is quantized by clock pulses and an error for a reference cycle is detected in digital quantity. In this case, the reference cycle is modulated according to an error for a reference cycle sum of a cycle sum of second and third rotary detection signals whose cycle changes according to a rotary speed of a supply reel 5 and a take-up reel 6 or according to an error for a reference value of a cycle square sum thus enabling a speed of a tape 7 to be nearly constant regardless of a tape winding diameter of reels 5 and 6 in a FF/REW mode. Therefore, the FF/REW time can be reduced without tape damage. |
