<p>Substituted acetic acid ester of the formula: (FORMULA) where: R1 and R2 together represent a residue of any one of the general formulae: (FORMULA) Where X is an oxygen or a sulphur atom, or a -NH- group; R6, R7 and R8 are each independently a hydrogen or halogen atom, or a lower alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, lower alkoxy, or lower alkenyl or trifluoromethyl group, or R6 and R7 may be together a methylenedioxy, or R7 and R8 may be together a methylenedioxy group; R3 is a hydrogen, or halogen atom, or a lower alkyl or lower alkoxy group; R4 is a lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, lower alkoxy, cyano, halogen-substituted lower alkyl, halogen-substituted lower alkenyl group, or a C3 to C5 alicylic group; and R5 is the residue of an alcohol selected from alcohols known in synthetic pyrethroids and is preferably a group of one of the formulae: (FORMULA) and their synthesis, activity and use as presticides, in particular in the control of arthropods, are described. These compounds are highly potent and less phytotoxic and more photostable than pesticides of the prior art. </p> |
