In a flat machine the members controlling the extent of the carriage traverse are selectively displaced by spindles driven from the carriage drive via magnetic clutches. The control mechanism for the members comprises a shaft 2 oscillated from a reciprocating drive chain 9 via gears 5, 8. A electric contact cam 13 is rotated between set limits by a friction clutch 6-7 at each change in the direction of rotation. A contact 19 selectively actuated by the pattern mechanism is engaged by cam 13 and actuates electro-magnetic clutches on the main drive shaft 2 or upper auxiliary shaft 27. Engagement of clutch 3-3' rotates spindle 44 via chains 41.2 to adjust the position of the yarn guide limiters, carriage reversal cams and lock adjustment pins at one end of the machine. Engagement of clutch 3-3" effects similar adjustment at the other end by rotation of spindle 44'. When clutches 31-32/32' on the auxiliary shaft 27 are engaged the spindles 44, 44' are returned to a set, zero position through a higher transmission chain drive. The spindles are held in their set positions by engagement of moveable clutch parts 38, 38' with a fixed part 37. |
