摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To form a printer being small in size, having high resolution and high speed and being quiet, by a method wherein a small-tube-diameter fluorescent discharge lamp disposed so that the tube axis thereof is parallel to the surface of photo-sensitive paper is used as a light source, and a light therefrom is applied onto the surface of the photo-sensitive paper which is of a dry type and can be subjected to processings of development and fixing and which is set in a prescribed exposure position, through a light shutter array using a ferroelectric liquid crystal of which only a part specified by a control signal transmits the light. CONSTITUTION:A print signal is taken in the main body 3 of a liquid crystal printer from the main body 1 of a lap-top type personal computer through an interface 2. A ferroelectric liquid crystal shutter array FLCS 4 conducts a shutter operation in accordance with said print signal taken in. Synchronously with this shutter operation, rolled photo-sensitive paper 5 is fed in the direction of paper-discharge and subscanning is executed. By the shutter operation of the FLCS 4 and the sub-scanning, a desired exposure-printed image is formed through sensitization on the surface of the photo-sensitive paper 5. A fluorescent discharge lamp 8 used as a light source for the FLCS is of a hot-cathode type or a cold-cathode type, and since the light does not need to be emitted from the whole periphery of a tube, illuminance in the exposure position can be increased.</p>
