The connector has a housing (1) which has a number of contact reception openings (6) arranged in two parallel rows at one end face (2), receiving respective contacts (10) which are bent through 90 degrees between the contact sections (11,13) at their opposite ends. A guide plate (9) is provided between each row of contact openings, extending parallel to the mounting surface (5) of the connector resting against the printed circuit board, with the contacts extending through slits in each guide plate and the mounting surface, so that their projecting contact sections (13) can fit through respective circuit board holes.
