Disclosed is a fluoropolymer production method which can produce a fluoropolymer efficiently. Specifically disclosed is a fluoropolymer production method characterized by polymerizing a fluoromonomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of two or more compounds (a) represented by the general formula (1) and having different n values in the general formula (1), wherein the average of the n values for all of the compounds (a) present in the aqueous medium is 2.0 to 4.0. Rf1O-(Rf2O)n-Rf3-COOM (1) wherein Rf1 represents a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; Rf2 and Rf3 independently represent a fluoroalkylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; M represents any one member selected from H, K, Na and NH4; and n represents an integer of 0 or greater.
