<p>1283873 Antihypercholesteroleamic medicines UPJOHN CO 27 Oct 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 51053/70 Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] Hypercholesteremia in cockerels is treated with a copolymer of a polyethylene polyamine and a bifunctional substance containing halogen atoms and/or epoxy groups, prepared in bead form by dispersing an aqueous solution of the polyethylene polyamine in an aromatic hydrocarbon liquid or chlorinated hydrocarbon liquid with an anionic surface active agent, adding the bifunctional substance to the dispersion, heating the mixture and then adding an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide. In an Example an aqueous solution of tetraethylene pentamine is dispersed in toluene with sodium salts of mixed alkylbenzene sulphonic acids as dispersing agent; epichlorhydrin is added, the mixture is heated at reflux; then aqueous sodium hydroxide is added and the product removed by filtration. Other polyethylene polyamines mentioned are diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, pentaethylenehexamine and mixtures obtained by reacting ethylene dichloride with ammonia or by polymerizing ethyleneimine. Other bifunctional compounds mentioned are glycerol-1, 3-dichlorohydrin, 1, 2:3, 4-diepoxybutane, bis-epoxypropylether, ethylene glycol bis-epoxypropylether and 1, 4-butanediol bis-epoxypropylether. The copolymer may be administered in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier.</p> |
