The container (2) is positioned adjacent to and below the raised edge (24) of a platform (23) from which the bulk product can be tipped into it, and has a deployable safety cover (12) in the form of a net (13) with reinforcing members (14) which goes over at least part of the container and stops anyone falling into it accidentally from the platform. In its retracted position the cover offers no obstacle to the material being tipped into the container, and is connected via a detector to a drive which operates a container discharge auger, preventing the auger from operating when the safety cover is not fully deployed.
