The present invention is directed to a two piece trailer hitch ball, the hitch ball comprising a ball and a bolt. The bolt has a first end provided with a threaded region for accepting a nut for attaching the hitch ball to a hitch bar and a second end for attachment of the ball, the second end being provided with material interlocking regions. The ball has a central opening for receiving the second end of the bolt, the second end of the bolt being inserted into the opening and the ball being swaged to press the interior wall of the opening into the material interlocking regions of the second end of the bolt to interlock the bolt and the ball.
