PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect by one detecting apparatus whether or not a lid is completely closed and whether or not an ink ribbon cassette is present, and simplify a structure by setting a means which detects by a single switch both whether the lid is opened or closed and whether the ink ribbon cassette is present. SOLUTION: A printing paper sent from a paper feed opening 18 of a main body 12 is discharged from a paper discharge opening 28 via a platen 26. A switch 32 is set adjacent to the platen 26 to detect whether or not a lid 14 is at a close position. An ink ribbon cassette 34 is detachably set to the lid 14. When the lid 14 is at the close position, the printing paper and an ink ribbon main body 40 are held between a thermal head 46 and the platen 26 at the print time, and the thermal head thermally transfers ink to the printing paper. A projecting part 42 operating the switch 32 is provided at a connection part of shafts 42, 44, which is positioned in a widthwise outer direction of the main body 40 when an ink ribbon 36 is seated in a cassette 38, so that the presence/ absence of the cassette 34 is detected by the switch 32. |
