An annular tightening organ 2,12 made of a thermoplastic elastomer is physically bound to the stem of a plastic pipe 1,11,4,5,6 consisting e.g. of a tubular part 1 or a locking ring 11, or else of a socket tube 4,5,6, by injection moulding the elastomer on the thermoplastic material in the tubular part 1, the locking ring 11 or the socket tube 4,5,6. The thermoplastic elastomer contains a component based on a thermoplastic polymer that is compatible with the thermoplastic material in the plastic pipe stem 1,11. The plastic pipe stem 1,11 preferably consists of a polyolefin, such as for example polypropylene or polyethylene, and the thermoplastic elastomer preferably consists of a coherent phase of a polypropylene-containing cross-linked ethylene-propylene diene rubber or of a polystyrene-polyethylenepropylene- polystyrene rubber. The close connection between the tightening organ 2,12 and the pipe stem 1,11,4,5,6 is formed by melting together the surface of the tightening organ and the facing surface of the pipe stem 1,11,4,5,6. The locking ring 11 is fitted with suitable means for forming a snap connection with a socket 4,5,6. <IMAGE>
