PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording device, in which a high video signal can be recorded on a magnetic tape with a relatively simple constitution, and a recording pattern on the magnetic tape can be made equal to a standard system. SOLUTION: A pair of main heads H1 and H3 arranged so as to be isolated with an angle of 180 in which a gap with the same azimuth is formed, and a pair of auxiliary heads H2 and H4 arranged with only a prescribed angle interval D and prescribed mounting heightΔh shift to the main heads H1 and H3, in which a gap with the same azimuth is formed, and a gap with the different azimuth from the azimuth of the gap of the main heads H1 and H3 is formed are mounted on a rotary drum 1. The rotary drum 1 is rotationally driven at a speed which is N/2 times as fast as a standard system, and a magnetic tape 2 is driven at a speed which is N times as fast as the standard system, so that a high-speed video signal whose time axis extend by two times can be recorded on the magnetic tape 2.
