Flight path information is transmitted periodically from an emitter to a receiver. The data includes identification data and data on the motion of the aircraft. The movement data is held in two registers: the first holding the most recent data on the aircraft, and the second holding the preceding set of data.These two sets of data are used to estimate the position of the aircraft at a particular time. The estimates are used to determine zones centred on the aircraft. The rate at which data is transmitted is determined by the size of the zone.
