PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cation electrodeposition coating method which is capable of forming a coating film having high filiform corrosion product resistance, corrosion preventiveness and rust preventiveness on the surface of an aluminum blank without forming a treating film by substrate treatment and a coated material obtainable therefrom. SOLUTION: The cation electrodeposition coating method comprises subjecting the surface of the aluminum blank to electodeposition coating with a cation electrode deposition coating material composition, in which the aluminum blank is not previously subjected to chemical conversion treatment with a surface treating agent and the cation electrodeposition coating material composition contains a resin composition having a sulfonium group and propagagyl group. The surface of the aluminum blank is preferably previously degreased. This coated material is obtained by the cation electrodeposition coating method described above.
