PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the detection time of unidirectional link failure. SOLUTION: Communication equipment comprises a frame transfer processing section 200 for transferring a frame through a first communication link L112 and a second communication link L121 of physical line, a section for transmitting a link normality confirmation frame from the frame transfer processing section of the communication equipment through a first communication link toward counter communication equipment, and a section for detecting failure of the first or second communication links by monitoring a send-back link normality confirmation frame which is received at the frame transfer processing section as a received link normality confirmation frame is sent back to the communication equipment from the counter communication equipment through the second communication link when a link normality confirmation frame transmitted from the communication equipment is received by the counter communication equipment through the first communication link.
