PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly reduce the number of system parameters required for a measurement in a vector network analyzer (VNA), and improve the workability and the practicality. SOLUTION: The conventional measurement method is based on intersections of three circles in a complex plane of a power ratio W=a2/a1. The invention is based on intersections of three circles in a S-plane of S-parameters. The S-parameters are obtained by using power ratios 3K4, 3K5, 3K6 (real number system parameters) of three output ports when waves are applied to only an input port P1 for coupling six ports and complex amplitude ratios 3k4, 3k5, 3k6 (complex number system parameters) of three output ports if the waves are applied to only a DUT. The invention cancels a characteristicτjk of a measurement system, eliminates an effect on the system parameters, and does not need to determine the system parameters for each Sjk.
