PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input all Kana characters by pressing each key twice for each of the characters by using ten main keys and two auxiliary keys on a device such as a mobile phone, a PDA or a digital TV remote controller, thus facilitating learning of an input method thanks to a Roman character displayed on each of the main keys; to input two Kana characters of a contracted sound by pressing each key three times; and to input a double consonant and a subsequent Kana character by pressing each key three times. SOLUTION: All the Roman characters for the consonants are divided into two groups and the Roman characters for the vowels are added to each of the groups. Two Roman characters for consonants and one Roman character for a vowel are allocated to each main key 1. A main key is pressed twice to input a Kana character in the form of a "consonant (belonging to the same group as a vowel) and the vowel". A contracted-sound key 2 is provided and a contracted sound is input in the form of a "consonant and a vowel (y) and a vowel 2". A consonant duplication key 3 is provided and a double consonant and a subsequent Kana character are input in the form of a "consonant and a double consonant and a vowel".
