PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly inflate an air bag forward at initial inflating in an air bag device for side impact. SOLUTION: A module case 4 comprising a case body 36 for storing the folded air bag 5 and a lid 37 coupled to the case body 36 by a hinge is arranged to a side part of a seat back 5. The lid 37 of the module case 4 is opened by a pressure of the air bag inflating at the time of a crash of a vehicle, and sewn part 25 of covering members 23, 24 covering the seat back 2 is broken to form an opening, whereby developing the air bag 5 inside a vehicle compartment through the opening. By covering upper and lower surfaces and right and left surfaces of the folded air bag 5 with a developing restricting cloth 42 of a band shape, the air bag 5 is restricted from inflating vertical and horizontal directions and energy of the high pressure gas is concentrated forward thereby smoothly developing the air bag 5 when a high pressure gas flows into the air bag 5. |
