PURPOSE: Provided is a safety device of a secondary battery, which breaks electric current and exhausts inner gas to the outside when the inner pressure of the battery rises over the regular pressure, therefore, it can prevent explosion and ensure the safety of the battery. CONSTITUTION: The safety device of the secondary battery is formed by laminating a safety plate(140), an insulator(120), and a current breaking disc(100) in order on the upper open hole of a can(4). The safety plate(140) has a central projection part(140A) and an expanding space part(140B) caved around the projection part(140A) and the current breaking disc(100) has a variable part(100A), wherein the projection part(140A) of the safety plate(140) is connected with the variable part(100A) of the current breaking disc(100) by a simple contact. When the inner pressure of the battery rises, the expanding space part(140B) is expanded and pushes up and breaks the variable part(100A), thereby the electric current is broken.
