PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial communication circuit for lessening the burden on a CPU in a node correcting the baud rate in a serial communication system. SOLUTION: The baud rate generator 12 comprises: an edge counter 22 for counting the number of bits in an inputted sink field 42 in the order of input; a sync field measurement timer 23 for measuring the time 33 required for the edge counter 22 to count a predetermined number of bits; and a circuit 24 for generating a baud rate correction value 34, i.e. the one half bit period in the sync field 42 using the measured time 33.
