Providing electrochromic device with improved environmental friendliness, processability and economy. A supported or self-supporting electrochromic device consists of electrochromic element(s) (5), layer(s) of solidified electrolyte (4), and at least two electrodes (2, 3). The electrochromic element comprises at least one electrochromic material and at least one electrically-conducting material. The solidified electrolyte layer is in direct electrical contact with the electrochromic element. The electrodes are electrically connected to a voltage power supply to create a difference in potential between them. Each electrode is in direct contact with the electrolyte layer but not with the electrochromic element. An Independent claim is included for manufacture of supported electrochromic device by depositing electrochromic element, solidified electrolyte layer and electrodes on a support. |
