PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component holding mechanism realizing space saving and the reduction of cost. SOLUTION: In the optical component holding mechanism in which a holding member 2 holding an optical component 1 is held in a fixed block 3, parts 2a and 2b; 2c and 2d having different external shape width in a direction orthogonal to an optical axis are formed on the member 2, and parts 3a and 3b in which the parts having the small external shape width of the member 2 are fitted and a part 3c in which the part having the large external shape width is lightly press-fitted is formed on the fixed block 3. After the parts 2a and 2b having the small external shape width of the member 2 are fitted in the block 3, the member 2 is turned centering around the optical axis to lightly press-fit the parts 2c and 2d having the large external shape width in the block 3, whereby the member 2 is held in the block 3.
