Double weave with ribbed air inlets - has short floating sections bonded against each other

The structure of a double-woven fabric incorporates permeable ribs to allow air to pass through for circulation. An additional weft is inserted between the upper and lower wefts to act as a weft tensioning system. The upper warps are bonded, forming a six-weave warp twill upper layer, with additional weft to form ribs in the upper fabric layer, and the lower warps are bonded with the lower weft to form similar ribs in the lower fabric level. The lower warps are drawn over the first upper weft and bonded under the first extra weft to pass over two lower wefts, run under the second tensioning weft and the second and third upper wefts to be bonded over the third tensioning weft. They then run under third and fourth, the lower wefts to bond over the fourth tensioning weft and run under the fourth weft, when the pattern is repeated. The other lower warps pass under the first upper weft to bond over a first tensioning weft, then run under two lower wefts, over a second tensioning weft and under the second upper weft, over the third upper weft to bond under the third tensioning weft, over the third and fourth lower wefts and under the fourth tensioning weft and the fourth upper weft, when the pattern is repeated. The use of tensioning wefts allows the development of short floating sections which are sharply defined and are bonded against each other.
