PURPOSE: An encoder output pulse converting apparatus is provided to solve the interface problem between different types of systems by converting a frequency and a signal level of an encoder output pulse according to a signal system of a downstream unit process system input terminal. CONSTITUTION: An output pulse converting apparatus comprises an optical matcher(31), a main processor(32), a pulse signal line driving unit(33) and a level converter(34). The optical matcher(31) receives signals(P',/P') from the line driving unit(22) to regenerate an output pulse of an encoder. The output pulse(P) of the regenerated encoder is used as a driving clock of the main processor(32) which uses the output pulse(P) to output frequency converted pulse signals(A,B). The pulse signals(A,B) from the main processor(32) passes the pulse signal line driving unit(33). The pulse signal line driving unit(33) converts the pulse signals(A,B) into signals(A,/A,B,/B). Then, the level converter(34) converts the signals(A,/A,B,/B) into signal levels required for second unit process system.
