PURPOSE:To increase output by using a composite oxide comprising CeO2 and Sm2O3 represented by the formula of (CeO2)1-x(Sm2O3)x (0<x<=0.3) as an oxygen ion conductor. CONSTITUTION:A composite oxide comprising CeO and Sm2O3 represented by the formula of (CeO2)1-x(Sm2O3)x (0<x<0.3) is used as an oxygen ion conductor. An oxygen ion conductor prepared by adding an alkali earth metal oxide as a third component to the above oxygen ion conductor is also used. As the alkali earth metal oxide, the oxide of Mg, Ca, Sr, or Ba can be used. The content of the alkali earth metal oxide is 0.2 or less based on 1.0 of CeO-Sm2O3 base composite oxide. |
