<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color variations of a white light emitting diode to make it match the color filter characteristics of a liquid crystal panel in a back light unit for color liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: In the back light unit 10 for color liquid crystal display using a white light emitting diode 1 as a luminous source, an optical thin film 8 is formed on an optical path such as an upper surface of a light guide plate 2 of the unit to form an interference filter, whereby sharp wavelength filter characteristics can be obtained, thereby correcting the luminous chromaticity of the white light emitting diode 1 according to the color filter characteristics of a transmission type or semitransmission type liquid crystal panel 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
