<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small hydrogen storage tank suitable for a fuel cell used in a portable electronic device, light-weighted, and having excellent hydrogen absorption and desorption capability. <P>SOLUTION: This small hydrogen storage tank for a fuel cell is formed of thermoplastic, and the ratio (V/A) of the volume 5 (Vcm<SP>3</SP>) of a content volume part 5 to an area (Acm<SP>2</SP>) of an outer surface part 6 is 1 or less, and a hydrogen absorbing alloy 8 is stored in the content volume part 5. A plurality of divided tank members formed of thermoplastic are united in a body by laser welding or supersonic welding to manufacture the tank. Thus, the hydrogen storage tank is reduced in weight so as to reduce the weight of a portable electronic device having high safety and used for a long time. By the use of thermoplastic, the plurality of divided parts of complicated shapes are easily welded by a method such as laser welding or supersonic welding, thereby having the effect of simplifying a manufacturing process, and lowering the cost by jointly using the manufacture of parts by injection molding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
