摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical pickup device having a spherical aberration correction means for easily adjusting an optical axis. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device 10 for recording and/reproducing on an optical disk 24 having a cover layer formed on a signal recording layer is provided with a collimator lens unit 18 which includes a collimator lens and a moving means constituted of a coil and a magnet between a light source 12 and an objective lens 22. When the thickness of the cover layer is deviated from a reference value and spherical aberration is caused, the collimator lens is moved back and forth along the optical axis by the moving means to cancel the caused spherical aberration. Since the collimator lens is moved in the direction of the optical axis by the moving means constituted of the coil and the magnet to cancel the spherical aberration, no new lens is necessary. Thus, the optical pickup device incorporating this moving means is made small-sized, and the adjustment of the optical axis is easy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
