PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a non-selective oxidation catalyst which is resistant to a high temp. during catalytic combustion. SOLUTION: The catalyst is expressed by the formula A1-x By Cz Al12-y-z O19-δ, wherein A is at least one element selected from barium, strontium and the rare earths, B is at least one element with valency Y selected from manganese, cobalt and iron, and C is at least one element selected from magnesium and zinc, (x) is a value of 0-0.25, (y) is a value of 0.5-3, (z) is a value of 0.01-3, a maximum value of y+z is 4,δis a value which is determined in response to the respective valencies X and Y of elements A and B and the value of (x), (y) and (z) and is equal to 1-1/2 (1-x)X+yY-3y-z}.
