PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce changes in paper carrying speed, even if a carrier roller of recording paper is affected by radiation heat, in an ink jet printer using a heat fixing method for drying ink particle on recording paper. SOLUTION: A carrier roller 10 and a driven roller (star roller) 11 are arranged in the vicinity of an ink drying part and are heated by heat of the drying part. Because a material of the carrier roller 10 is soft and a rotary shaft of the carrier roller 10 and a rotary shaft of the driven roller 11 are kept at a fixed interval by a positioning and fixing member, the surface of the carrier roller 10 is pressed by the driven roller 11 and is recessed when the carrier roller 10 thermally expands. By using a material of a small coefficient of thermal expansion as the material of the carrier roller 10, an increase in a diameter of the carrier roller 10 can be suppressed and an increase in paper carrier speed can be reduced.
