ELECTRODE MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrode material which is superior in wettability with electrolyte and ion conductivity and which never interferes with the increase in electron conductivity; and a method for manufacturing the electrode material including electrode active material particles uniformly covered with carbonaceous coating.SOLUTION: An electrode material comprises: electrode active material particles; and a carbonaceous coating layer covering the surface of each electrode active material particle and including a metal oxide. In the carbonaceous coating layer, the content of the metal oxide is 5-70 mass%. A method for manufacturing the electrode material comprises the steps of: mixing a metal salt or metal alkoxide including at least one metal atom selected from a group consisting of Al, Zr, Si and Ti with an organic compound which is a precursor of carbon so that the total mixed amount of the metal salt or metal alkoxide is made 5-70 mass% in terms of a metal oxide which would be included in the carbonaceous coating layer on the supposition that the metal salt or metal alkoxide is all turned into the metal oxide; and heating the resultant mixture in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.SELECTED DRAWING: None
